Terms of sale, licence and refunds
These terms apply when you download the Archiboard free trial or buy an Archiboard licence. Please read them before you buy. If anything is unclear, email us.
1. Who we are
Archiboard is made and sold by Connor Lawrie, trading as Archiboard, 110 Hilton Road, Cowdenbeath, KY4 9AW, Scotland ("we", "us"). You can contact us at our support address.
2. The free trial
You can get a free trial code and use every feature of Archiboard for 7 days from when the code is issued, at no cost. Each computer can have one free trial. The trial is for evaluating the app; you may use it for real work while you do. When the trial ends, the files you made stay on your computer, and a licence lets you open and work on them again.
3. What a licence gives you
- Solo licence: use Archiboard on 1 computer.
- Studio licence: use Archiboard on up to 5 computers within one business.
A licence lets you use the Archiboard desktop app with unlimited projects, permanently. It does not expire. You are buying a licence to use the software, not ownership of the software itself.
You can move a licence to a different computer by deactivating it on the old one (Menu → Licence) and activating it on the new one.
4. Updates
Every licence includes 12 months of updates from the date of purchase. After that you can choose to buy another 12 months of updates (currently £29 for Solo and £79 for Studio). If you don’t, you can keep using the last version you were entitled to, indefinitely.
5. Future online features
We may in future offer optional online services, such as live commenting or cloud sharing. These may be sold separately or by subscription. They are not included in a licence unless we say so at the time, and the desktop app you have paid for will keep working without them.
6. Payment
Our checkout is run by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the reseller ("merchant of record") for your purchase. Lemon Squeezy takes your payment, charges any VAT or sales tax due, and issues your receipt and licence key. Their own buyer terms also apply to the payment. Prices are shown in pounds sterling; tax may be added at checkout depending on where you are.
7. Refunds
If Archiboard isn’t right for you, email us within 30 days of your purchase and we’ll refund you in full. No reason needed. When a refund is issued, the licence key is disabled and the app returns to the free trial on any computer where it was activated.
If you are a consumer in the UK, you also have statutory rights for digital content, including a right to a repair, replacement or refund if the software is faulty or not as described. Nothing in these terms affects those rights.
8. Fair use
Please don’t share your licence key outside the computers your licence covers, try to bypass the trial or licence checks, or resell or redistribute the app. We may disable a key that is clearly being misused, after first contacting you where we reasonably can.
9. Your work
Your boards, images and markups belong to you. They are stored on your own computer and are never sent to us. Review files you share are encrypted with the password you choose; anyone with both the file and the password can open it, and a file can’t be recalled once sent. Keep your own backups.
10. Our responsibility to you
We work hard to make Archiboard reliable, but we can’t promise it will be free of errors or suit every purpose. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything relating to Archiboard is limited to the amount you paid for your licence, and we are not responsible for loss of profit, business or data. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
11. Third-party software
Archiboard includes open-source components, including PDF.js (Apache License 2.0) and Electron (MIT License). Their licences apply to those components.
12. Changes and law
We may update these terms. The terms in force when you bought your licence apply to that purchase. These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and the courts there have jurisdiction, although as a consumer you may also bring a claim in the courts where you live.
